Doctrinal Statement: Of
First Missionary Baptist Church – Healdton, OK
Independant Fundamental Bible Believing Baptist Church
What's in the name?
This church is a Baptist church by conviction and principle, not by affiliation. This means that we believe the basic Bible teachings for which Baptists have historically stood. As Baptists, we believe the following: the Bible is our sole authority for all matters of faith and practice. The church should be autonomous or self-governing. The believer does not need a priest, other than Jesus Christ, to come boldly to God. Every Christian has equal access to God personally. God's Word gives us two ordinances for the church-baptism and the Lord's Table. Each person is individually responsible for his decision to accept Christ. The separation of church and state is biblical. The believer is eternally secure and cannot lose salvation. There are two biblical offices in the church—pastors and deacons.

1.      The Scriptures: Is the Word of God, is supernaturally inspired by the Holy Spirit written down by holy men of old and is the complete and final revelation of the will of God to man. God said that He inspired Words that He wanted His people to live by & remember, kind of like a road map!
Ps 12:6 The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.
Ps 12:7 Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.
And we know from verses in the Bible and from common sense that if God went to so much trouble to have His words written down and preserved and told men not to change them or improve them by how man thinks. We should accept the scriptures. The King James Bible for the English speaking people has been preserved over 100s of years and even though people have tried to destroy it and improve it by changing word’s and meaning of words, they will have to answer to God for their actions the Bible says. But let us not look for the easiest but search all the scriptures, every new version of Bible directly contradicts the King James Bible so one has to be right and others have to be wrong. The Devil has been trying to get people question and change what God said from the start in the garden and he is still getting people to doubt and change what God said today.
Jesus said;
John 5:39Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.

2. Of God: There is only one real and true God existing in three persons as a spirit. They are all perfect and powerful. God is Love and every good gift and perfect gift comes from Him.
1John 5:7For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.
Matt 3:16And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him:
Matt 3:17And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

3. Jesus The Christ: Is the only Begotten Son of God born of a virgin into human flesh. Always has existed;
John 1:1¶ In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
John 1:2The same was in the beginning with God.
John 1:3All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
Jesus lived on earth as a human and was 100% man and 100% flesh and lived a perfect life never doing anything wrong but was crucified on a cross so those who chose to accept His sacrifice can receive a home in heaven.
4. The Holy Spirit: Has always been and took part in creation, in Jesus’ birth, and the writing of the Bible. His Purpose now is to restrain the evil one, convict of sin, bear witness to the truth, and  seals and guides the believer.
John 14:16And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
John 14:17Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
John 14:26But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

5. The Devil (Satan): Was a created angel at one time cast out of heaven saying he was as God. Now is the enemy of God, His Christ, tempter of humans, accuser of the saints, the author of lies and false religion and has already been defeated by Jesus Christ and is bound for Hell.
1Pe 5:8¶ Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
6.  Creation: Everything was created except for God the Father, God the Son, & God the Holy Ghost.
John 1:3All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
a.    The earth was created in a literal 6 days evening and morning 24 hour period with God resting on the 7 day just like Genesis describes.
Col 1:16For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:  Col 1:17And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.
7. The Fall of Man: Man was created sinless but voluntary fell and from Adam sin passed to the human race by their father.
Rom. 5:12Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:  Rom. 5:19For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.

8. The Virgin Birth: Jesus was the only begotten born of the Holy Ghost and a virgin woman named Mary. Who later married Joseph and had children. Because of this the sin nature was not passed through a human father to Jesus.
1Co 15:47The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven.
9. The Atonement for Sin: Salvation is fully by grace and Jesus’ perfect sinless death on the cross provided atonement for our sins. Jesus did it all, all we have to do is believe and ask him to be our Lord and Saviour.
John 3:16For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.  John 3:17For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
10. Grace as a new creature in Christ: The Bible tells us how we can be saved and it also says that we can know for sure that we are saved (I John 5:10-13). There is only one way to be saved the Bible says (Acts 4:10-12). The Bible says to be saved “Ye Must be Born Again” and this is a spiritual birth and as your physical birth happened at a certain time on a certain day your spiritual birth, being born again into God’s family, happens at a certain time on a certain day when you chose to believe in Jesus Christ and ask Him to be your Lord and Saviour (John 3:1-18). Salvation is a Free Gift to all who voluntary chose to repent of the wrong things they have done and turn their life over to Jesus making Him their new Master, Father, & Saviour (Acts 26:20).
Lu 13:3I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.
11. THE FREENESS OF SALVATION:
We believe in God’s electing grace; that the blessings of salvation are made free to all by the gospel; that it is the immediate duty of all to accept them by a cordial, penitent and obedient faith; and nothing prevents the salvation of the greatest sinner on earth but his own inherent depravity and voluntary rejection of the gospel; which rejection involves him in an aggravated condemnation.
Rom. 5:18Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life.
Isaiah 55:1; Matthew 11:28; John 3:15-18, 36; 5:40; 6:37; Acts 2:38; Romans 8:29-30; 10:13; 1Corinthians 15:10; Ephesians 2:4-5; Colossians 3:12; 1Thessalonians 1:4; 1Timothy 1:15; Titus 1:1; 1Peter 1:2; Revelation 22:17
12. OF JUSTIFICATION: We believe that the great gospel blessing which Christ secures to such as believe in Him is Justification; that Justification includes the pardon of sin, and the gift of eternal life on principles of righteousness; that it is bestowed not in consideration of any works of righteousness which we have done; but solely through faith in the Redeemer’s blood, His righteousness is imputed unto us.
Rom 3:24Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:
Isaiah 53:11; Habakkuk 2:4; Zechariah 13:1; Acts 13:39; Romans 1:17; 4:1; 5:1-9, 16-19; 8:1; Galatians 3:11; Titus 3:5-7; Hebrews 10:38
13. OF REPENTANCE AND FAITH: We believe that Repentance and Faith are obligations, and also inseparable graces, wrought in our souls by the quickening Spirit of God; thereby, being deeply convicted of our guilt, danger and helplessness, and of the way of salvation by Christ, we turn to God with unfeigned contrition, confession and supplication for mercy; at the same time heartily receiving the Lord Jesus Christ and openly confessing Him as our only and all-sufficient Savior.
Ac 20:21Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.
Psalm 51:1-4,7; Isaiah 55:6-7; Mark 1:15; Luke 12:8; 18:13; Acts 2:37-38; 20:21; Romans 10:9-11,13
14. OF THE CHURCH: We believe that a Baptist Church is a congregation of baptized believers associated by a covenant of faith and fellowship of the gospel. The Church that Jesus started back 2000 years ago when he was alive is what our church characteristics are.  Which is: observing the two ordinances of Christ; governed by His laws; exercising the gifts, rights, and privileges invested in them by His Word; that its officers of ordination are pastors or elders whose qualifications, claims, and duties are clearly defined in the scriptures; we believe the true mission of the church is found in the Great Commission: First, to make individual disciples; Second, to build up the church; Third, to teach and instruct as He has commanded. We hold that the local church has the absolute right of self government, free from the interference of any hierarchy of individuals or organizations; and that the one and only superintendent is Christ through the Holy Spirit; that it is scriptural for true churches to cooperate with each other in contending for the faith and for the furtherance of the Gospel; that every church is the sole and only judge of the measure and method of its cooperation; on all matters of membership, of policy, of government, of discipline, of benevolence, and the will of the local church.
Mt 16:18And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.  Mt 18:15¶ Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother.  Mt 18:16But if he will not hear thee, then take with thee one or two more, that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established.  Mt 18:17And if he shall neglect to hear them, tell it unto the church: but if he neglect to hear the church, let him be unto thee as an heathen man and a publican.  Mt 18:18Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.  Mt 18:19Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.  Mt 18:20For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.
Leviticus 27:31; Malachi 3:10; Matthew 28:19-20; Acts 2:41-42; 6:5-6; 14:23; 15:22-23; 20:17-28; 1Corinthians 5:11-13; 6:1-3; 11:2; 12:4,8-11; 16:1-2; Ephesians 1:22-23; 4:11; 5:23-24; Colossians 1:18; 1Timothy 3:1-13
What does it mean to be an independent church?
As an independent Baptist church, we are not affiliated with any particular Baptist denomination or ruling body. Because of this we can support our own missionaries, select our own leaders, and support institutions that believe as we believe. In short, our church answers to the headship of Jesus Christ rather than a denominational body. There are currently more than 10,000 independent Baptist churches in America and thousands more throughout the world.
15. OF BAPTISM AND THE LORD’S SUPPER: We believe that Christian baptism is the immersion in water of a believer, in the name of the Father, of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, with the authority of the local church, to show forth in a solemn and beautiful emblem our faith in the crucified, buried and risen Savior, with its effect in our death to sin and resurrection to a new life; that it is prerequisite to the privileges of a church relation and to the Lord’s supper, in which the members of the church, by the sacred use of bread and the fruit of the vine are to commemorate together the dying love of Christ; preceded always by solemn self-examination.
Mt 3:16And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him:  John 3:23And John also was baptizing in Aenon near to Salim, because there was much water there: and they came, and were baptized.  1Co 11:26For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord’s death till he come.
Matthew 3:6; 3:16; 28:19-20; John 3:23; Acts 2:41-42; 8:36-39; Romans 6:3-5; 1Corinthians 11:23-28; Colossians 2:12
16. OF THE PERSEVERANCE OF THE SAINTS: We believe that such only are real believers as endure unto the end; that their persevering attachment to Christ is the grand mark which distinguishes them from superficial professors; that a special Providence watches over their welfare; and that they are kept by the power of God through faith unto eternal salvation.
John 8:31¶ Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;  John 8:32And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
Mt 7:21¶ Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
Psalm 121:3; Matthew 6:20; 13:19-21; John 8:31-32; 10:28-29; 16:8; Romans 8:28,35-39; Philippians 1:6; Colossians 1:21-23; Hebrews1:14; 1Peter 1:5; 1John 2:19
17. OF THE RIGHTEOUS AND THE WICKED: We believe that there is a big difference between the righteous and the wicked; that such only as through faith are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and sanctified by the Spirit of our God, are truly righteous in His esteem; while all such as continue in impenitence and unbelief are in His sight wicked, and under the curse, and this distinction holds among men both in and after death, in the everlasting felicity of the saved and the everlasting conscious suffering of the lost.
Eph. 5:8For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:
 Genesis 18:23; Proverbs 11:31; 14:32; Malachi 3:18; Matthew 7:13-14; 25:34; Luke 9:26; 16:25; John 8:21; 12:25; Acts 10:34-35; Romans 1:17; 6:16-18,23; 7:6; 1Corinthians 15:22; Galatians 3:10; 1Peter 4:18; 1John 2:7,29; 5:19
18. OF CIVIL GOVERNMENT: We believe that civil government is of divine appointment, for the interests and good order of human society; that magistrates are to be prayed for, conscientiously honored and obeyed; except only in things opposed to the will of our Lord Jesus Christ; who is the only Lord of the conscience, and the coming Prince of the kings of the earth.
Ex 18:21Moreover thou shalt provide out of all the people able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness; and place such over them, to be rulers of thousands, and rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens:
Exodus 18:21-22; 2Samuel 23:3; Psalm 72:11; Daniel 3:17-18; Matthew 10:28; 22:21; 23:10; Acts 4:19-20; 23:5; Romans 13:7; Philippians 2:10-11; Titus 3:1; 1Peter 2:13-14,17
19. OF THE RESURRECTION AND RETURN OF CHRIST AND RELATED EVENTS: We believe in and accept the Scriptures upon these subjects at their face and full value. Of the Resurrection, we believe that Christ rose bodily “The third day according to the Scriptures”; that He ascended “to the right hand of the throne of God”; that He alone is our “merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God”; “that this same Jesus which is taken up from you into heaven shall so come in like manner as ye have seen Him go into heaven,” bodily, personally, and visibly; that the “dead in Christ shall rise first”; that the living saints “shall all be changed in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump”; “that the Lord God shall give unto Him the throne of His father David”; and that “Christ shall reign a thousand years in righteousness until He hath put all enemies under His feet.”
Psalm 72:8; Isaiah 11:4-5; Matthew 24:27,42; Matthew 28:6-7; Mark 16:6,19; Luke 1:32; Luke 24:2,4-6,39,51; John 14:3; John 20:27; Acts 1:9,11; 1Corinthians 15:4; Philippians 4:20; 1Thessalonians 4:16; 1Timothy 2:5; Hebrews 2:17; 5:9; 8:1; 9:28; 12:2
20. OF MISSIONS: The command to give the gospel to the world is clear and unmistakable and this Commission was given to the churches.
Matthew 28:18-20; Mark 16:15; John 20:21; Acts 1:8; Romans 10:13-15
21. OF THE GRACE OF GIVING:
Scriptural giving is one of the fundamentals of the Faith.
2Corinthians 8:7, “Therefore, as ye abound in every thing, in faith, and utterance, and knowledge, and in all diligence, and in your love to us, see that ye abound in this grace also.”
We are commanded to bring our gifts into the storehouse (common treasury of the church) upon the first day of the week.
1Corinthians 16:2, “Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come.”
Under grace we give, and do not pay, the tithe – “Abraham GAVE the tenth of the spoils,” (Hebrews 7:2,4) and this was four hundred years before the law, and is confirmed in the new Testament; Jesus said concerning the tithe, “these ought ye to have done”, (Matthew 23:23).
We are commanded to bring the tithe into the common treasury of the church.
Leviticus 27:30, “The tithe … is the Lord’s.”  Malachi 3:10, “Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.”
In the New Testament, it was the common treasury of the church.
Acts 4:34,35,37, “And brought the prices of the things that were sold and laid them down at the apostles’ feet … Having land, sold it, and brought the money, and laid it AT THE APOSTLES’ FEET.”
22. OF HUMAN SEXUALITY: We believe that God has commanded that no intimate sexual activity be engaged in outside of marriage between a man and a woman.  We believe that any form of homosexuality, lesbianism, bisexuality, bestiality, incest, fornication, adultery, and pornography are sinful perversions of God’s gift of sex.
Genesis 2:24; Genesis 19:5,13; Genesis 26:8-9; Leviticus 18:1-30; Romans 1:26-29; 1Corinthians 5:1, 6:9; 1Thessalonians 4:1-8; Hebrews 13:4
We believe that the only legitimate marriage is the joining of one man and one woman.
Genesis 2:24; Romans 7:2; 1Corinthians 7:10; Ephesians 5:22-23
We believe that men and women are spiritually equal in position before God, but that God has ordained distinct and separate spiritual functions for men and women in the home and church.  The husband is to be the leader of the home and men are to be the leaders (pastors and deacons) of the church. Accordingly, only men are eligible for licensure and ordination by the church.
Galatians 3:28; Colossians 3:18; 1Timothy 2:8-15; 3:4-5,12
